Manitoba reaches 72 confirmed measles cases, majority from spike in May
Provincial data shows 53 cases confirmed in May alone so far, rate of more than 2 cases per day

Manitoba has seen 72 confirmed measles cases since the start of the year, the majority of which were seen this month, the province said in a Wednesday update.
The latest numbers from public health, which covers the period up to May 24, showed May has seen the highest number of measles cases in one month so far this year, with 53 confirmed cases — an average rate of more than two cases per day.
There have also been four probable cases recorded in Manitoba this year.
The province's most recent exposure update, published last Friday, warned that people at two schools in southern Manitoba — Prairie Dale School in Schanzenfeld and Lorette Collegiate in Lorette — may have been exposed to the highly infectious disease in mid-May.
At that time, there were 60 confirmed cases.
