Drake Moslenko, who is charged with murder in the death of former girlfriend Kaila Tran, is being released on bail under strict conditions.

A man charged with first degree murder in the death of his former girlfriend is being released on bail under what a judge describes as "very, very strict" conditions.

Drake David Moslenko is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kaila Tran, who was stabbed in broad daylight in the parking lot near her St. Vital apartment building on June 20.

Moslenko is accused of arranging for Treyvonne Anthony Warner Willis, 20, to kill Tran. Willis is also charged with first-degree murder.

A Winnipeg courtroom was nearly packed on Tuesday morning for the hearing, which lasted less than half an hour, the CBC's Angela Johnston reports.

Moslenko did not show much emotion, saying only, "Yes, I understand," when the judge asked him if he understood the conditions.

Those conditions include staying with his father at his house and being allowed out only for medical emergencies, court appearances, meetings with lawyers and four hours a week of personal matters.

Moslenko is also not permitted to have a cellphone and must stay two blocks away from almost 30 witnesses, his co-accused, as well as members of Tran's family.
