2 bodies discovered in car near school in North End
Bodies of 2 males found Monday in car on 300 block of College Avenue
Winnipeg police are investigating after a Chevrolet sedan containing two male bodies was found on a street near a school in Winnipeg's North End.
Police are calling it a "sudden death" investigation but have yet to release details about cause of death.
"Further analysis of the vehicle, the positive identity of the deceased, notifications and autopsy results are still pending," said a Winnipeg police news release.
Emergency workers were called to the scene on College Avenue near Machray School at 10:35 a.m. on Monday after a member of the public reported seeing the bodies in a car.
A construction worker at Machray School first noticed something suspicious about the vehicle, said Ted Zoske, who lives near the crime scene.
According to Zoske, the worker thought occupants in the car were smoking marijuana and that's why the windows were foggy.
"When he wiped the window to look in, he was a little surprised at what he found," he said.
"It's normally a pretty quiet neighbourhood," Zoske added.
During the course of Monday's investigation, police dusted the car for fingerprints and then covered the windows with black garbage bags. The car was towed away on a flatbed truck.
Police said there does not appear to be any threat to public safety at this time.
