Body pulled from Red River
A body discovered in the Red River Friday has been pulled from the water.
The body was noticed around 9:45 a.m. CT by a Winnipeg resident who noticed a black plastic garbage bag floating in the water not far from the North Perimeter Bridge.
At first he assumed it might just be some trash tossed into the water.
The man, who did not want his name published, told CBC News that when he examined the bag further it seemed to contain a human limb.
Shortly after that, the police were called.
They were on the scene until about 1 p.m. Friday.
In a news release issued Saturday, police said their investigation was still in the early stages.
"The gender or age of the deceased has not been confirmed," police said, adding that they expected to provide more information after receiving the results of an autopsy.
