Winnipeg police have surrounded a home on Boyd Avenue in the city's St. John's neighbourhood and are asking the public to avoid the area.

Winnipeg police have surrounded a home on Boyd Avenue in the city's St. John's neighbourhood and are asking the public to avoid the area.

The police tactical unit arrived at the home on the 500 block of the street just before 2:30 p.m. 

Const. Jay Murray said police are investigating a potentially serious incident that may involve weapons.
