Man arrested after nurse spat on, assaulted at Brandon hospital

Brandon police arrested a 26-year-old man after an emergency-room nurse was allegedly spat on and assaulted at Brandon Hospital early on Monday morning.

Brandon police have arrested a 26-year-old man after they say emergency-room nurse was spat on and assaulted at a hospital early on Monday morning. 

Just after 2 a.m. on Monday, Brandon Police Service officers were called to the Brandon Regional Health Centre about a report that a man had spit in a nurse's face, grabbed her around the neck in a chokehold and attempted to stab her with a needle, according to a news release issued later on Monday.

Police say the nurse was able to escape without physical injuries. 

A man was taken into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday. 

CBC contacted the Brandon Police Service for more information but did not hear back before publication.
