Man, 21, sent to hospital with critical injuries after being hit while on foot; cadet cruiser hit at scene
A 60-year-old man is facing charges related to impaired driving after he smashed the front passenger side of a Winnipeg Police Service Cadet cruiser at 70 km/h on Friday night.
The Ford Escort hit the cruiser around 11:45 p.m. At that time, cadets were helping police investigate the scene where a 21-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle around 6:45 p.m.
Two cadets were in the cruiser when it was hit. They sustained minor injuries, according to police.
The 21-year-old man who was hit earlier on Friday evening was rushed to the hospital shortly after the vehicle that hit him allegedly drove away, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark-coloured pickup truck, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6271.
