The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is in desperate need of dog donors.

Every donation the CABB receives immediately goes toward saving the lives of dogs throughout the country.

Dr. Jonas Watson from Tuxedo Animal Hospital says pet owners are willing to do a lot to help other pets, and an increased number of veterinarians are offering donation services.

CABB, located at Red River College, sends blood all over Canada. It's the only dog blood bank of its kind.

Dogs need to be recommended by a vet, but CABB will fax the necessary forms directly to the veterinarian's office.

People looking to take their dog in to donate can visit the Canadian Animal Blood Bank website, which lists several locations in Manitoba.

There is also an upcoming blood collection clinic at Sage Creek Animal Hospital on Dec 23.

The Canadian Animal Blood Bank will close December 24 and will start again on January 5.
