Charges laid in Pritchard Avenue fire, death of Justin Chezick

Romeo Ryle is charged with second-degree murder and arson in connection with the death of Justin Chezick.

A man has been charged with second-degree murder and arson in connection with the death of Justin Chezick.

Romeo Ryle turned himself in to police on Monday. 

The body of ​Chezick, 42, was found July 20 inside a fire-damaged house on the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue in the city's North End.

Members of the Winnipeg police homicide unit had earlier identified Ryle as a suspect but attempts to locate him were unsuccessful so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Ryle is detained in custody.
