CBC Manitoba pop-up bureau sets up shop in Winkler and Morden
In-person story pitches could earn you some CBC gear while supplies last
Get ready Winkler and Morden — CBC Manitoba is coming to town.
You'll find our journalists working out of Whitecap Coffee at 555 S. Railway Ave. in Winkler, Man., on Dec. 10 from 1-7 p.m.
We'll be in Morden, Man., at Coffee Culture Cafe & Eatery at 301 Stephen St. on Dec. 11 from 1-7 p.m.
We know we're not quite jolly old Saint Nick, but we want to hear from you, so we will have giveaways. In-person story pitches could earn you some CBC gear while supplies last.
We'll be in your communities because we know there's more than wide open prairie sky out there.
There are growing communities filled with hard-working people and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. There's a determination to grow neighbourhoods and there is immense pride.
We're coming for those stories.
Perimeter-itis is something we hear sometimes at CBC Manitoba, the Winnipeg-based public broadcaster.
Essentially it means people don't feel they see our journalists outside the limits of the province's largest city unless there is tragic news or something really monumental, like a countrywide manhunt.
We hear that, understand it and are working toward retooling our efforts. Your stories, diverse perspectives and experiences matter to all Manitobans and Canadians and that's why we're here, to reflect those stories to the world.
What does this mean to rural communities all over this province? More and more we will be working to place ourselves physically (and sometimes virtually) in your communities in the coming months with pop-up bureaus, so that our reporters and producers can hear directly from you.
Tell us what you think Canadians need to know about your community.
Now it's your turn, rural municipality of Stanley. Our reporter and producer will be there from Dec. 9-13.
Do you have story ideas? Meet them in person on Tuesday or Wednesday or you can reach them through email: reporter Rachel Bergen at rachel.bergen@cbc.ca and producer Brett Purdy at brett.purdy@cbc.ca.
