Enjoy food, art, film, music and more at this year's Kultivation Festival
Top reasons to check out Kultivation Festival
Kultivation is one of the fastest growing and far reaching Filipino festivals in North America. The festival is made up of over 30 events and activations, featuring food, art, music, dance, education, culture and community. Thousands of attendees check out the festival each year.
We asked organizer Allan Pineda for three big reasons why you shouldn't miss this year's festival:
1. The food - Winnipeg is one of Canada's hidden gems as a food scene. Filipino food is no exception, with roughly 100k Filipinos and counting come exceptional Filipino food. From one-off special items at restaurants and bakeries across the city and province, to pop-up dinners like Sama Sama 2 which is a seven chef collaboration at Tito Boy Restaurant on Aug 23 and Aug 24, the food scene can't be beat.
2. The music - Filipinos are known for a few things, and one of them is singing. Kultivation offerings include karaoke nights at Jeepney restaurant and The Creative Lounge, DJs at Saintuary, Patent 5 and live performances with local artists during Bahay Kubo Sessions.
3. The collaborations - Kultivation festival is a time where the community comes together and does amazing things. It brings people and concepts from different sectors and connects them producing amazing programming and content. This year we have DJ x coffee shop collabs with running clubs and a volleyball tournament, special paint nights with music and food, and even a BCE Golf Tournament Fundraiser. We also have a Baybayin Baby traditional language script workshop, Sala the annual Filipino Film festival at the WAG and an evening of conversation with Cambio Co at Masagana Flower farm.
CBC is proud to sponsor this year's festival. Find the full list of events on the Kultivation Instagram page, here.
