Friend of Thelma Krull helps in search for missing teen Cooper Nemeth

The search for Winnipeg teenager Cooper Nemeth is feeling very familiar for the family and friends of Thelma Krull, who went missing in the same part of the city last summer.

'This community has gone through a lot in the last year,' says Connie Muscat

The search for Winnipeg teenager Cooper Nemeth is feeling very familiar for the family and friends of Thelma Krull, who went missing in the same part of the city last summer.

Connie Muscat, one of Krull's friends who helped organize searches for the missing 57-year-old woman, went to the Gateway Community Centre on Tuesday to help in the search for Nemeth, 17.

"There were some tears but those tears were specifically for Cooper and his family," Muscat said Wednesday.

"We know those streets because we looked at there and honestly, we just wanted to use that to help them."

Nemeth was last seen Feb. 14 in the early morning hours after being at a party.

Muscat said it was an emotional day for her on Tuesday as she went out searching again.

"We know some back roads there that need to get searched and some specific areas that we, before this happened to Thelma, wouldn't have known they were there — the little small parks and those little hidden areas that, you know, people like to hang out in," Muscat said.

Muscat said she was glad to see so many people out looking for Nemeth.

"This community has gone through a lot in the last year but, to be honest, this community is so supportive. Just walking in there yesterday, there were searchers that I don't personally know at all, giving me hugs," she said.

She hopes Nemeth will come home to his family soon.

Muscat said there has been no updates on the search for Krull.
