Minivan driver arrested in crash that sent motorcyclist to hospital in Winnipeg

A motorcyclist was sent to hospital and the driver of a minivan was put in handcuffs after a crash early Wednesday in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood.

A motorcyclist was sent to hospital and the driver of a minivan was put in handcuffs after a crash early Wednesday in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood.

The collision also closed Talbot Avenue between Brazier and Stadacona streets. The road remained closed as of 10:30 a.m.

Police were called around 6:10 a.m. about the crash at Talbot and Levis Street, which left the motorcycle with a twisted front wheel and surrounded by debris from broken parts. 

The minivan sat parked next to a nearby curb, the right front corner and windshield smashed.

The driver of the van ran from the scene but was arrested about an hour later. Police have not said what charges he faces.

Police have not released any information about the condition of the man who was driving the motorcycle.
