Blizzard could disrupt Winnipeg home care services Friday
Blizzard with 80 km/h winds forecast for Friday morning
A coming winter storm could keep some Winnipeggers who rely on home care from getting the service on Friday.
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says a blizzard forecast to hit Friday could delay or cancel some home care and other community health services.
The extent of the disruptions will depend on the impact of the storm, but "some weather-related delays or cancellations may be inevitable," the WRHA said in a news release Thursday.
Environment Canada forecasts Winnipeg will get two to five centimetres of snow and conditions could shift abruptly in the morning.
Whiteout conditions and reduced visibility on roads are possible as winds of 80 km/h are forecast for Friday morning, the federal agency said.
Home care clients whose service is disrupted can expect a phone call.
Visits may be rescheduled, depending on the nature of the service, the health authority said.
Clients who want to cancel or postpone their Friday appointments in advance can either contact their case co-ordinator or nurse, or call the WRHA after-hours service at 204-788-8331, the health authority said.
