Semi hits, kills man on Trans-Canada Highway near Portage la Prairie

A man died after a semi with a trailer hit him after he walked onto the Highway 1 west of Portage la Prairie.

A man died after a semi with a trailer hit him after he walked onto the Trans-Canada Highway west of Portage la Prairie, Man.

RCMP were called to the scene near the intersection with Highway 16 around 7 p.m

The eastbound semi hit and killed the 39-year-old man from the Portage la Prairie area as he walked out on the highway.

The 51-year-old driver of the semi wasn't injured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision, RCMP said.

Police continue to investigate.
