Firefighters douse Assiniboine Avenue encampment fire

Winnipeg firefighters doused a fire in an encampment near Assiniboine Avenue Monday evening.

Video of the fire shows large flames and black smoke covering an area along the bank of the Assiniboine River. Tents can be seen nearby.

Firefighters were called around 6:20 p.m. to a report of a fire in the 400 block of Assiniboine Avenue. The fire was brought under control by 6:41 p.m., a spokesperson for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service wrote in an email.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
