Forest fire smoke creates hazy Manitoba sky, air quality warning

Forest fire smoke has drifted into Manitoba and prompted a special air quality statement from Environment Canada.

Forest fire smoke has drifted into Manitoba and prompted a special air quality statement from Environment Canada.

The smoke, from fires in Northern Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories, is creating hazy conditions across Manitoba.

It is worst, though, in areas closest to the Saskatchewan border, where visibility and air quality are both poor at times.

Conditions are gradually expected to improve by evening as winds shift the smoke plume westward, Environment Canada says.
