Twenty years ago today, Winnipeggers got a look at what was then the next incarnation of pro basketball in the city. The Winnipeg Cyclone, the city's new team in the International Basketball Association, revealed its logo on Oct. 3 of 1995.

The Winnipeg Cyclone, the city's new team in the International Basketball Association, revealed its logo on Oct. 3 of 1995. 

Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins, who passed away in August of 2015, would go on to coach the team.

In this CBC-TV story that aired Aug. 19, 1999, Winnipeg Cyclone coach Darryl Dawkins works with children at a local basketball camp and talks about his involvement in the Reduce Abuse Walk-A-Thon in support of The Laurel Centre.

The team called the Winnipeg Convention Centre home court. Like the Winnipeg Thunder before it, the Cyclone had a hard time attracting a crowd to fill the stands during home games. The team folded in 2001.
