Officials from Grand Rapids, Mich., are in Winnipeg to exchange ideas about winter tourism.

Members of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) will try out The Forks river skating trail and learn about the warming huts, then check out the Great Ice Show before heading to Fort Gibraltar to take in Festival du Voyageur.

"We're excited to showcase the activities taking place in the heart of our city during the winter," said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, adding he is also eager to hear more about what DGRI is doing to attract tourists.

"From outdoor beer festivals to live music, Grand Rapids has been capitalizing on its cold winters, creating unique destinations for people to experience the outdoors."

DDGRI is the management entity for Grand Rapids' downtown development and improvement authorities.
