Stolen handgun from 1981 found by Winnipeg police along with meth, cocaine
Winnipeg man, woman, face long list of charges after traffic stop
A stolen handgun from 1981 has been recovered by police along with meth and cocaine, Winnipeg police said Tuesday morning.
The Browning handgun was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, said Const. Tammy Skrabek.
Police made the seizure after they pulled over a "suspicious" vehicle in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Pembina Highway Monday night around 6:15 p.m.
The driver didn't have a valid licence and after the searching the vehicle, officers found cash, 26.5 grams of cocaine and the loaded 9-mm pistol, police said.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with 23 offences including possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, a number of related firearms offences and possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
Police said the man has breached a number of court-ordered conditions.
A 26-year old Winnipeg woman has also been charged with 19 offences related to the incident including possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, and possessing cocaine, marijuana, and meth for for the purpose of trafficking.
