In a statement, UFCW Local 832 confirmed Heather Grant-Jury is no longer employed as the union's director of its training centre.

"Heather Grant-Jury is no longer employed by the UFCW Local 832 Training Centre," union spokesperson Blake Crothers said.

"We are conducting an internal investigation and have no other details to provide at this time."

Grant-Jury was seconded to the premier's staff as a senior aide during a cabinet revolt at the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015.

During that time, several directors and senior officials left Selinger's side, including his then-chief of staff Liam Martin.

Grant-Jury left the post of principal secretary and returned to UFCW after Selinger narrowly defeated NDP MLA Theresa Oswald in the NDP leadership convention March 8, 2015.

The premier's office said UFCW president Jeff Traeger, another Selinger ally, contacted the premier's chief of staff about the "internal human resources matter" on Dec. 30, 2015.

By the following day, the union's president considered it a "serious matter that would require further steps to be taken," Selinger's office said in a statement.

At that time, the premier's chief of staff requested Grant-Jury's immediate resignation from the re-election planning committee and board of Manitoba Public Insurance. Her formal resignation was received by MPI Jan. 4. Selinger appointed Grant-Jury to the board of MPI in October 2015.

Traeger's office said he would not comment on the investigation into Grant-Jury until it is complete.

Grant-Jury could not be reached for comment.
