Firefighters rescue 2 from burning house in Winnipeg's North End

Two people were rescued from a house fire early Wednesday in Winnipeg's North End and rushed to hospital in unstable condition.

Two people were rescued from a house fire early Wednesday in Winnipeg's North End and rushed to hospital in unstable condition.

Emergency crews were called around 12:15 a.m. to the fire on Aberdeen Avenue, off Aikins Street.

They found flames and smoke coming from the house and learned there were two people still inside, said a news release from the City of Winnipeg.

Firefighters rescued two people who were taken to hospital by paramedics.

The fire was declared under control around 12:40 a.m.

No updated information on the condition of the two people, or anything about their ages or sex, has been released by the city.

No damage estimates are available at this time and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
