Crews called to 2 house fires in Winnipeg's Elmwood area

Emergency crews were called to two house fires in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood late Tuesday morning.

No one injured in blazes on Hespeler, McPhail

Emergency crews were called to two house fires in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood late Tuesday morning.

The fires broke out minutes apart and within a couple of blocks of each other around 11:30 a.m.

One was at a two-storey duplex in the 100 block of Hespeler Avenue, off Henderson Highway. The second was a five minute walk away on McPhail Street.

The Hespeler fire was extinguished quickly but the one on McPhail gave firefighters a bit more trouble, with flames shooting out of the attached garage.

Fire officials said there were no injuries in either blaze.
