Ondrej Pavelec has been named one of the best players in the National Hockey League this past week, making it the second time the Winnipeg Jets goalie has been honoured in recent weeks.

Pavelec, 27, was honoured for stopping all 83 shots he faced in three consecutive shutouts in the week ending Sunday, leading the Jets to a playoff berth, the team and the league said Monday.

He made 32 saves in the Jets' 2-0 win over the Minnesota Wild on April 6 and stopped all 31 shots in the team's victory over the St. Louis Blues the next day.

He completed the week with 21 saves on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche. The Jets ultimately lost that game in a shootout but still secured a playoff spot.

The NHL says Pavelec becomes the first goalie in franchise history to record three consecutive shutouts, as well as the first to do so for any team since St. Louis' Brian Elliott did it in April 2013.

Dallas Stars left wing Jamie Benn was named the league's first star of the week. The third star went to Mark Stone, a right wing with the Ottawa Senators.

Pavelec, who was named the NHL's first star of the week on March 23, set a franchise record this season with 16 career shutouts. He finished the regular season with a record of 22-16-8 with career bests in save percentage and goals against average and shutouts.
