Made-in-Manitoba video game treats lazy eye

 A video game that's good for you?

That's what a Winnipeg-based company has created.

Optometrist Michael Nelson and the Winnipeg game development company Project Whitecard are behind a new innovation in treating amblyopia — or lazy eye.

The game is called EyeTrain and it works to help train both eyes to work together — a treatment that Nelson says is more fun for children than eye patches.

Up to five percent of the population is affected by amblyopia.

EyeTrain was debuted at a Vision West Expo in Las Vegas last week, placing 4th in the best new product category.
