Manitoba's police watchdog is investigating two Winnipeg officers accused of assaulting a man at a business on Main Street on Thursday.

A man reported to the Winnipeg Police Service that he had been assaulted by two men and suspected they were police. WPS in turn reported the incident to the Independent Investigation Unit, according to a news release from the unit on Friday.

The incident happened at an establishment on Main, between Rupertsland Boulevard and Smithfield Avenue.

The IIU reviewed surveillance footage from the business and it showed an altercation between two off-duty officers and the man who made the report, the release states. The man suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses or anyone who has surveillance footage that could help investigators is asked to contact the IIU at 1-844-677-6060.

The investigation continues.
