Manitoba First Nation explains refusal to post financial info
Eleven Manitoba First Nations are in hot water with the department of Aboriginal Affairs.
York Factory First Nation is one of 11 Manitoba First Nations refusing to post financial information in accordance with new transparency laws.
They have not posted their financial information online and their federal funding is being withheld.
While the government says it's necessary, chiefs say it's heavy-handed.
The CBC's Jillian Taylor spoke with one Manitoba chief, Ted Bland of York Factory First Nation, about why he hasn't complied.
