Players from five different provinces have been competing at Assiniboine Park this week as part of the Canada U16 National Cricket Championships.
Garvin Budhoo, president of the Manitoba Cricket Association, said over the next three years, a series of similar tournaments will be held in order to help Canada's cricket organizations hand-pick players for a national team for the 2018 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.
Canada has a team going to the Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh in January.
