Dozens of people came out for the sixth annual March for Peace in Winnipeg Wednesday evening.
Marchers divided into two groups and started on 444 Burnell and at the corner of Sherbrook and Broadway before heading to Winnipeg's Central Park.
March organizer Sandra Medd said the goal of the walk is to bring neighbours together. "It's for peace," she said.
"Everyone is happy, celebrating, but there still is that really powerful message of being together."
"People are moved throughout the whole thing."
Medd said the walk started as a march against violence six years but has now changed to be about peace.
"Instead of being against something we decided to be for something," she said.
"We're for community," Medd said.
