Mother Nature brings whiteout to Winnipeg for playoffs

April showers bring May flowers but let's hope snow does, too.

That's what Mother Nature is bringing to Winnipeg on Monday and likely Tuesday as well, with well-below-normal temperatures.

There have been suggestions on social media that she's a Jets fan showing support for the playoff whiteout, or trying to freeze out the Anaheim Ducks and their California skin.

Unfortunately, a lot of Winnipeggers were also accustomed to the warmth after a week of temperatures pushing, and some times surpassing, the 20 C mark. While this week won't require anyone to go back to their balaclavas, it will be much colder that it has been.

Environment Canada is calling for a 30 per cent chance of flurries throughout Monday with cool northwest winds and a high of just 2 C.

There's a 30 per cent chance of flurries early in the morning on Tuesday, then things should clear in the afternoon, with a high of 6 C.

The sun will keep shining through the rest of the week, but the temperatures won't improve much until Friday. Even then it will still be below normal for this time of year, which is a daytime high of 13 C and overnight low of 0.
