Oak Hammock Marsh has released a video of goslings being gently lobbed into a pond after hatching on the roof of their interpretive centre.

The eight goslings hatched on Mother's Day and had to be rescued from the roof.

"Somebody let me know that they could see goslings on the roof, so we went and scooped them up in a Rubbermaid bucket," said the marsh's resident naturalist, Paula Grieef.

Grieef said geese do nest on the roof of the building because it's covered in grass.

"Most places they can get down themselves but we have one section of the roof … where they have trouble getting down that second level," she explained.

Grieef brought them to a nearby pond and gently lobbed them in near their mom. She said they can't be put in too close to shore or they can get confused.

Every year, the marsh has about one nest of goslings that need to be rescued after they hatch. Grieef says it usually does happen on or around Mother's Day.

If geese nest on your roof, you can contact Oak Hammock Marsh for help safely relocating them.

Grieef said the most important thing is making sure they are reunited with their mom after they are moved.
