A fire gave a local restaurant owner a scare when it went up in flames in Winnipeg early Tuesday morning.
A section of a wall at the Olympia Restaurant, located at the corner of Portage Avenue and Vimy Road, caught fire just after 5 a.m. CT, Winnipeg fire officials said.
The owner of the diner told CBC News an electrical fire in a bathroom wall triggered an alarm system in the restaurant.
The kitchen wasn't damaged but an outside patio area of the building was burned in the blaze.
No one was injured but the restaurant will be closed for a time for building repairs, the owner said.
The restaurant has been open for at least 40 years.
Emergency crews have not provided a damage estimate or what caused the fire.
