Fatal overnight crash hit-and-run: police
Police asking for information on grey or silver vehicle with recent front-end damage
An overnight collision that left one person dead in downtown Winnipeg was a hit-and-run, police say.
A 30-year-old man was walking in the neighbourhood around 3:15 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle travelling east on Cumberland Avenue near the intersection with Carlton Street, Winnipeg police said in a news release on Sunday.
The vehicle drove away without assisting the victim.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.
The suspect vehicle is described as being grey or silver in colour and would have sustained front-end damage, police said.
Police are investigating the crash and are hoping to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it, or has information on a vehicle of that description.
Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6271 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
