Percy, the dog abused and blinded by hair dye, has been adopted from Manitoba Underdogs Rescue after having his left eye removed.

The one-year-old dog was surrendered to the animal rescue in February after suffering abuse at the hands of his previous owner's child. Manitoba Underdogs said that hair dye was rubbed into Percy's eyes, causing him immense pain and blindness. On July 23, his left eye was removed but he still has most of his vision in his right eye.

"Now that his eye problems are finally behind him, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Percy has found his forever home," said Jessica Hansen, the executive director for Manitoba Underdogs.

Hansen said media attention brought out many prospective adopters but after review, the organization believes they have placed Percy in the right home.
