A benefit social is being held Sunday night in honour of Winnipeg Jockey Alyssa Selman, who was seriously injured in a race at Assiniboia Downs last month.

Selman suffered a serious spinal cord injury, and lost use of her legs after she was thrown from her horse during a race on June 27. She has been recovering at the Health Sciences Centre since the accident.

The fundraiser is being organized by the horse racing community, and the event will be broadcast live on YouTube from the Assiniboia Downs beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Organizers said cash donations and gifts have been pouring in for the silent auction.

Tickets are $15 and trust funds have also been set up at the TD Canada Trust, Assiniboine Credit Union and Access Credit Union.
