15-year-old girl charged in stabbing death of woman, 39, in Selkirk

A teenage girl has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a 39-year-old woman in Selkirk, Man., earlier this week.

A teenage girl has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a 39-year-old woman in Selkirk, Man., earlier this week.

The woman was found suffering from stab wounds just outside a business on Manitoba Avenue around 11:50 p.m. Monday. She was rushed to hospital with critical injuries but died, police said.

RCMP released an image Wednesday of someone they characterized as a person of interest at the time.

On Friday, RCMP announced they had arrested a 15-year-old girl who has been charged with the homicide of the 39-year-old.

Investigators believe the girl and woman didn't know each other.

Sgt. Laura LeDrew with RCMP major crimes services called the case "shocking" and "tragic" in a news release on Friday.

The investigation continues.
