3 teens charged after boy, 16, shot at Winnipeg's Red River Ex
Police taped off a section of the midway, a short distance from games and rides
A 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital in critical condition after he was shot at one of Winnipeg's largest summer fairs.
Three other teens aged 15 to 17 have been charged.
Police were called to Red River Exhibition Park on the west edge of the city around 7 p.m. Monday. They taped off a section of the midway, just outside one of the washrooms, a short distance from games and rides.
The teen was being tended to by in-house paramedics and was then transported to hospital. He has since been upgraded to stable condition, police said Tuesday.
Two 17-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl are charged in connection with the incident.
They were located in a taxi cab in the Shaughnessy Heights area, near Tyndall Avenue and Burrows Avenue, just before 7:30 p.m. A loaded handgun was recovered with them, police said.
The shooting occurred after an altercation, according to police.
One 17-year-old is charged with aggravated assault, numerous firearms offences and four charges related to failing to comply with a prior sentence and court conditions.
The other 17-year-old is charged with aggravated assault, while the 15-year-old girl is charged with aggravated assault and multiple weapons-related offences.
