Shootings send 2 men to hospital in unstable condition
Police arrest man, still looking for suspect in 2nd incident
Separate shootings in Winnipeg this weekend sent two men to hospital in unstable condition, police said Monday.
A 32-year-old man was found lying in a back lane near Boyd Avenue and Parr Street at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, yelling he had been shot in the leg, Const. Tammy Skrabek said on Monday.
He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable, she said. His injuries are not life-threatening.
A 32-year-old was arrested downtown Sunday in connection with the shooting.
He did not know the victim before the shooting, but both the victim and the suspect were known to police, Skrabek said.
In the second shooting, a man was injured by a shotgun blast that hit the back of his head and upper body, police said. Police found the injured man near Salter Street and Redwood Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday.
He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but his condition improved and he has been released, Skrabek said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the second shooting and police ask that anyone with information call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
