The Winnipeg Goldeyes downed the Wichita Wingnuts 11-4 Monday night in Game 5 in Kansas to take the American Association Championship.

The Goldeyes last won the league title in 2012 against the Wingnuts, but it was a bit of a cakewalk that year, with the Fish rolling to a 3-0 sweep of the best-of-five series.

The Goldeyes won the opening game of the series, 5-0, and Wichita notched the series with a 9-2 win in Game 2.

The Goldeyes lost Game 3 by a score of 7-5 but weren't prepared to pack away their season just yet.

Facing elimination on Sunday night, they blasted to a 4-0 lead and held off a Wichita rally for a 5-4 victory, forcing Monday's winner-take-all championship final.
