The Winnipeg Jets began gearing up for the final stretch of the NHL season with a special outdoor practice Sunday at The Forks.

It felt like –28 C with the wind chill outside, but that didn't stop hundreds of people from bundling up and standing on the Assiniboine River as the team took to the ice.

Sunday's skate marked the Jets' first outdoor practice on the river.

It also gave the public an opportunity to support the team as its Olympics hiatus comes to an end.

Team Canada won the gold medal in men's hockey earlier in the day, defeating Sweden 3-0 in Sochi, Russia.
