McPhillips, Leila remain closed Wednesday due to sinkhole
Traffic disrupted near Garden City Shopping Centre
Traffic near Garden City Shopping Centre continues to be disrupted thanks to a sinkhole that opened up Tuesday.
Just after 3 p.m., the city's traffic account on Twitter tweeted about a possible sinkhole at McPhillips Street at Leila Avenue.
A couple of hours later, Winnipeg police confirmed it was a sinkhole, also via Twitter.
Northbound McPhillips was closed, police said, as was westbound Leila.
The city said Wednesday the streets remain closed and told drivers to find alternative routes. There was no immediate word on when the streets would reopen.
