Warm weather temporarily closes skating trails at The Forks
Nestaweya River Trail and winter park rinks and trail closed Monday

Warmer temperatures this week have temporarily closed skating trails at The Forks in Winnipeg.
The Nestaweya River Trail and the site's winter park rinks and trail closed Monday, The Forks said in a news release.
The public is advised to stay off all skating surfaces until they have reopened.
"We hope that keeping people off of the skating side of the trail will allow us to revive it and bring it back once overnight temperatures sort of dip back below freezing," said Zach Peters, communications manager for The Forks.
All walking, biking and cross-country skiing trails remain open, the release said.
Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasted Monday's daytime temperature as 4 C with –3 C overnight.
The river trail has been open for 55 days so far this season since the first section opened on Dec. 31, he said.
Last weekend, the trail was packed with people partaking in various activities at The Forks due to the nicer weather, Peters said. But now areas of mush and pooling water will have to clear up before it can be groomed and reopened.
