A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with child pornography offences.

Winnipeg police's Internet Child Exploitation Unit zeroed in on a home in Transcona during a recent investigation.

Police obtained a search warrant and discovered electronic videos of child pornography at the home, Const. Rob Carver said Wednesday.

A 41-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with accessing, possessing and distributing child porn, Carver said. He remains in custody.

"It's a terrible crime with very significant implications," Carver said. "I don't know if there's any change in how often it's occurring; there is a change in how often we're able to make arrests.

"It's partly our job, I think, to make sure the public is aware of how common this and how many neighbourhoods and towns are affected."
