Death of man, 23, found on Notre Dame Avenue being investigated as homicide: Winnipeg police

The Winnipeg Police Service's homicide unit is investigating the death of a 23-year-old man found in a Notre Dame Avenue alley on Tuesday night.

The police service's homicide unit is investigating the death of a 23-year-old Winnipeg man found in a Notre Dame Avenue alley on Tuesday night.

Police got a report of an injured and unresponsive man in a back alley in the 400 block of Notre Dame, between Ellen and Spence streets, around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Winnipeg police said in a news release Wednesday.

Officers gave him emergency medical care before an ambulance arrived. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. 

Police have identified the man as Leo Amus Caribou. His family has been notified and an autopsy will be completed, police said.
