Lingering snow prompts city to put off yard waste collection
The City of Winnipeg is delaying their yard waste pickup, after a stubborn winter has left lingering snow in many yards.
The city’s yard waste collection program was scheduled to begin on April 1 but has been postponed to April 15, if conditions improve.
Once collection begins, yard waste will be collected every two weeks on the same collection day as recycling and garbage.
The city-wide program began last fall in an effort to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in the city’s landfill.
