The blue-eyed, cougar cub that arrived at the Assiniboine Park Zoo in December now has a name: Teeka.

She was found alone in the snow outside of Calgary cold, dehydrated, lethargic and underweight. Since her arrival in Winnipeg, Teeka has been thriving, according to the zoo.

Shy at first, the cub is adapting to her surroundings, gaining weight and in excellent health.

Her name is the product of more than 700 votes cast in a Facebook contest, where the zoo welcomed people to submit their ideas about what the cub should be called.

Teeka won with 283 votes. The name is inspired by the golden-brown colour of her coat.

If you want to visit four-month-old Teeka, she can be found next to the snow leopards on the north side of the Assiniboine Park Zoo.
