The Winnipeg Police Service's homicide unit is investigating the death of a woman found in the Daniel McIntyre neighbourhood early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the 600 block of Victor Street, between Ellice and Wellington avenues, after reports of a suspicious incident shortly before 4 a.m., Winnipeg police said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

The woman, who had what police described as serious injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not yet publicly identified the woman. Officers are still reaching out to notify family, according to the news release.
