13 more municipal workers charged in wake of violent city hall protest
11 firefighters among latest group charged with mischief, unlawful assembly and assault in Aug. 18 incident
Charges have been laid against another 13 municipal employees, including 11 firefighters, in connection with the ransacking of Montreal city hall on the evening of Aug. 18.
The charges include unlawful assembly, mischief and assault.

This latest group charged brings to 57 the number of municipal workers now charged in relation to the incident.
On Oct. 2, 44 municipal employees appeared in court on the same charges in connection with the protest.
Their trials are scheduled for November 27.
Outrage over Bill 3 sparked protest
Six of the firefighters facing charges have been fired by the city, and 57 municipal employees have been reprimanded.
Their penalties range from one-week to six-month suspensions without pay. Of that group, 46 are firefighters, four are white-collar workers and one was a blue-collar worker.
They were protesting against Bill 3, the proposed law to reform municipal pensions. If it's passed, municipal workers across Quebec will be forced to contribute more to their pension plans to help make up for ballooning deficits.
Bill 3 is currently undergoing a clause-by-clause examination at the National Assembly.
