On-ramp from Highway 15 North to 720 East now closed
South shore commuters trying to get to downtown Montreal via Highway 15 North should prepare for traffic troubles Monday with the closure of the access ramp to Highway 720 East / Ville-Marie Expressway as of Sunday at 11 p.m.
CBC traffic reporter Jennifer Allen has a few detour options to propose for your Monday commute
South shore commuters trying to get to downtown Montreal via Highway 15 North should prepare for traffic troubles Monday with the closure of the access ramp to Highway 720 East / Ville-Marie Expressway as of Sunday at 11 p.m.
Transports Québec said the ramp will remain out of service until the end of 2017.
The closure is part of the Turcot Interchange redevelopment project, which will see the ramp replaced.
According to the ministry, a detour will take drivers to Highway 20 westbound to Exit 67 / Notre-Dame Street / Angrignon Boulevard. They will be able to access the eastbound 720 from there.
Jennifer Allen, traffic reporter for CBC Montreal's Daybreak, proposes these other alternatives for getting to the downtown core:
- From the 15 North, try exiting at Wellington or Atwater.
- The Bonaventure Expressway, but keep in mind the roadwork that has closed access to the Ville-Marie.Tunnel until November 2016.
- Décarie Expressway — the Sherbrooke exit will be open again, or the Côte-Saint-Luc exit.
- Try one of the other bridges — Mercier Bridge or the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
- Lafontaine Tunnel.
