Three people died and an 18-year-old woman is in hospital after an incident involving their car in Quebec's Montérégie region.
Provincial police say the car lost control and veered off of Principale Street near 16th Avenue at around 10 p.m. on Saturday in the small town of Saint-Paul-de-l'Île-aux-Noix.
The car then hit a tree and caught fire, according to police.
Three people died in the wreck.
But police say a woman was able to escape and was transported to hospital. Her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
The fire department was able to extinguish the fire and forensic teams were on site Sunday morning as police try to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the crash.
